L979M LiftMaster Wireless Keyless Entry Keypad
The L979M is LiftMaster’s current MAX wireless keypad. Mount it on the jamb, pick your own PIN, and open the door without a remote. It is the keypad LiftMaster built to cover the same learn-button operators the 878MAX (Raynor 878MGX) has been used on, and it also talks to the newer Security+ 3.0 White learn-button openers. The L979M model is the replacement for the older Liftmaster 878MAX and Raynor 878MGX wireless keypads.
Programming follows the color of the learn button on the opener. White-button Security+ 3.0 openers can be set up from the myQ app for extra PIN, schedule, and battery tools. Yellow, Purple, and Red/Orange openers program from the keypad and the learn button the usual way. One 9-volt battery is included. No wiring.
Key Features
- Wireless keyless entry with a PIN you choose (4 to 8 digits on supported setups)
- Illuminated keys for night use
- One-touch close
- Temporary PIN for guests, deliveries, or service
- myQ app setup and PIN tools on compatible Security+ 3.0 (White learn button) openers
- Outdoor-rated housing for year-round use
- 9-volt battery included — no low-voltage wiring
- LiftMaster 1-year warranty
Compatibility
Works with LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Craftsman, and Raynor garage door openers that use the learn-button colors below and have photo-eye safety sensors. LiftMaster’s published cutoff is openers made after 1997.
- White — Security+ 3.0 / BLE LR 2.4 GHz
- Yellow — Security+ 2.0, 315 MHz or 390 MHz
- Purple — Security+ 315 MHz
- Red/Orange — Security+ 390 MHz
If your opener has a Green learn button, the L979M is not compatible with your operator. Use the L979U LiftMaster Universal Keypad instead.
Raynor: Same coverage the 878MAX / 878MGX listing used. Family names include Admiral, Airman, Aviator, Corporal, Commander, Endeavor, General II, Pilot, Navigator, Prodigy, Sentinel, Sergeant II, Ultra, and Voyager (and the later “II” versions of those lines).
If you are not sure of the learn-button color, email us with your opener model or a picture of the back of your operator, and we will confirm before you order.
Do not confuse this with the L979S. The S version is for White-button Security+ 3.0 only. The L979M is the wider MAX keypad.
