Capacitors
Capacitors for Garage Door Openers
We have start motor capacitors for 1/3hp and 1/2hp garage door opener
motors. When you press the wall button or remote control and the garage
door operator doesn't move and the motor just hums or buzzes then that
is usually an indication that the capacitor is bad and needs replaced.
Make sure you replace the capacitor with the same that is in the opener.
The start motor capacitors in Liftmaster and Genie garage door openers
can vary from the capacitor in a Raynor or Linear door opener so it's
important to get the correct replacement.
All the info you need
to find a replacement capacitor should be printed on the side of the
capacitor you're replacing. You can also check in the opener manual for
your garage door opener there should be a parts list (usually near the
back of the manual) that should show what capacitor to use. If you don't
have a manual you can view or download manuals of different makes and
models of garage door openers on our Support Manuals site.
