Garage Door Hinges
The garage door hinges are an important part of the garage door as
they hold the sections together and allow them to roll around the
tracks. As with any moving part on a garage door the hinges can break
and wear out over time. The 14 gauge hinges that we offer are strong
enough to handle the heaviest of residential garage doors. We stock the
four hinges needed for any garage door up to 8' high.
The hinges are
numbered from #1 to #4 and are considered the end hinges. The #1 hinge
is also used in any of the center hinge positions. It is important
to use the same numbered hinge for the one you are replacing. The only
exception is the #1 hinge which can be used as a #1 end hinge or as a
center hinge. The #1 hinge goes between the 1st section (bottom) and the
2nd section. The #2 hinge is attached between the 2nd and 3rd section
while the #3 hinge is between the 3rd and 4th sections. If you have an
8' high door then you would also use the #4 hinge that attaches the 4th
and 5th (top) section.
