The L979M is LiftMaster’s current MAX wireless keypad. Mount it on the jamb, pick your own PIN, and open the door without a remote. It is the keypad LiftMaster built to cover the same learn-button operators the 878MAX (Raynor 878MGX) has been used on, and it also talks to the newer Security+ 3.0 White learn-button openers. The L979M model is the replacement for the older Liftmaster 878MAX and Raynor 878MGX wireless keypads.
Programming follows the color of the learn button on the opener. White-button Security+ 3.0 openers can be set up from the myQ app for extra PIN, schedule, and battery tools. Yellow, Purple, and Red/Orange openers program from the keypad and the learn button the usual way. One 9-volt battery is included. No wiring.
Works with LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Craftsman, and Raynor garage door openers that use the learn-button colors below and have photo-eye safety sensors. LiftMaster’s published cutoff is openers made after 1997.
If your opener has a Green learn button, the L979M is not compatible with your operator. Use the L979U LiftMaster Universal Keypad instead.

Do not confuse this with the L979S. The S version is for White-button Security+ 3.0 only. The L979M is the wider MAX keypad.
