The safety sensors on the garage door opener are there to keep the door from closing on an object, car or person. When they're working they are great to have but when they stop working they can be a pain. Sometimes it's just a matter of realigning the sensors or cleaning the lens of the sensor to get them working again. When that doesn't work it's possible they've failed and need replaced.
